I know there are a lot of single people out here, but you don’t have to lose yourself in a man, woman, work, or relationship to have value. I know this isn’t DV Awareness month, but hear me out…

Yes, you deserve love too! But I think you will find love, meaning the love you are meant to have, when you can learn to love yourself FIRST!! Loving yourself enough to take time to get to know someone before moving too fast and giving them access to you, your home, etc.

There is nothing wrong with being single for a while. Single women get to do many things and one of them is to discover who you really are… What do you like? What would you like to do that you haven’t done? Try that restaurant. Go on that vacation. Visit that museum. Buy those shoes. Go to that concert. Who are you?

If you can’t be alone for a while and reflect on why the relationships you’ve had didn’t work out, then how do you expect to grow in that area? Any woman or man who doesn’t know themselves outside of a relationship has a 99.999% chance of losing themselves within a relationship. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I mean, who wants to be that absorbed into someone else? 🤦🏾‍♀️

THE TRUE DEFINITION OF LEVELING UP: When you can reflect on your past actions and behavior, change, learn, and grow so that the next time can be better.

You have to be able to reflect on you; your actions, your words, and your thoughts and figure out how things ended up in divorce or going your separate ways, then work on yourself so that you don’t make the same mistakes in your next relationship.

I say all that to say this, you don’t have to rush into relationships with people. Take your time and get to know people. There are some things that people can hide for a while, but not forever.

It’s important to know who you are dealing with b/c everyone is different. Just take your time, reevaluate/check yourself when necessary, and keep moving forward. Life isn’t a race, it’s a marathon. 🏁
